Our history: BETA e.V.'s legacy
The association BETA France aims at bringing Europeans together, as its acronym stands for. This goal is reached through the implementation of Model European Union Strasbourg (MEU Strasbourg), a project which our association has been partnering with since the year 2015.
Model European Union Strasbourg was created by a group of students of AEGEE Mainz-Wiesbaden in the Spring 2007. After years of commitment, the project celebrated its 11th edition in 2017. Year after year, young Europeans from all across our continent believed in this crazy project. Today, the dream of the few has bloomed into the achievement of the many.
Participants and organizers, partners and sponsors, hundreds of Europeans have been involved in the first-ever simulation of European politics.
This success-story inspired students to create sister simulations in their countries. The MEU network counts as of today more than 15 EU simulations.
Just like MEU Strasbourg created an ad-hoc association to sustain the project (BETA e.V.), other MEU projects started to develop NGOs under the "BETA" label to back-up their organizations.
For a few years already, BETA e.V. aims at turning into the umbrella organization over a "BETA Europe" network, a European Youth NGO.
In that respect, the MEU Strasbourg project is to be transferred under the direct authority of the newly created BETA France association, integrated into the BETA Europe network.
BETA France is one of the many associations taking part in the organization of EU simulations.
While our association focuses on Model European Union Strasbourg, other NGOs are involved in bringing more and more Europeans together through numerous projects.
More than 15 EU simulations take place on a regular basis, in Europe but also on other continents as Universities in Egypt and Lebanon are developing the trend.
Among all these partners, BETA France has developed closer ties with the associations of the BETA network, soon to become a European Youth NGO.
Germany, Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Ukraine, France, are the countries hosting a national branch of the BETA family.
Should you wish to contact any of them, we highly recommend you to have a look at the BETA e.V. website. You will learn more about national branches and their respective MEUs.
